TASK 1 – TOPIC

For graphic design i decided to choose human trafficking as my topic for this project. Why? Because what we see people in Malaysia just don’t care and take this as a serious thing to avoid this cases from being worst. So am here to bring it up to make people aware and be careful outside there and this campaign also to make people understand the impacts of human trafficking  plus Malaysia is one of the worst country to curb human trafficking. My target audience includes community members, volunteers, parents along with organizations who work and interact with youth.

Modern Day Slavery (JUN 2014 20)

“US Penalizes Malaysia for Shameful Human Trafficking Record”

  • Continued failure to curb traffickers prompts us to downgrade Malaysia in its annual Trafficking in Persons report.
  • Malaysia’s relegation to tier 3 in US State department’s Trafficking in Persons this indicates that Malaysia has categorically failed to comply with the most basic international requirements to prevent trafficking and protect victims within its borders.

“Malaysia is not serious about curbing human trafficking at all” said Aegile Fernandez (Director of Tenaganita, a local charity that works directly with trafficking victims).

“The Malaysia government has continuously failed to provide basic rights protection to migrant workers” said Phil Robertson (Asia’s deputy director of human rights watch).

What does Tier 3 signify?

It is the lowest rank means that the country has not been meeting the international minimum required standards to help prevent human trafficking.

The worst record

  • Thailand
  • Malaysia
  • Columbia
  • Cyprus
  • Qatar

Their needs are simple, yet critical. We want to highlight their needs and inspire individuals to donate their timeand expertise to this cause.

  1. Fundraising- Our partners are civil society organizations who are in critical need of funds. We aim to raise a healthy amount from donations and ticket sales to this event in support of these organizations.
